2024 SummerFest

IH2’s Empowered Scholar Program (ESP) focuses on providing children in poverty with nourishment, resources, and opportunities that promote rich, active learning and positive child development while setting a trajectory for continued growth and achievement.

Each year, IH2 hosts both an in-person resource day as well as resource deliveries to school districts and subsidized communities throughout Butler, Beaver, Allegheny, and Armstrong Counties.  The in-person event will take place at Broadstreet Elementary School on Friday, August 9 where more than 800 attendees are expected!  SummerFest is an opportunity for students and their families to get excited about and prepared for the coming school year!  We will have food, games, and activities, and a back-to-school shopping experience.

In addition to this event, IH2 delivers clothing, school supplies, shoes, and personal hygiene supplies to additional districts  in preparation for the coming school year.  Throughout the year, IH2 continues to maintain closets and resource supplies for all of its beneficiary schools and developments.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Financial donations will be used to purchase the following for disadvantaged students throughout Butler, Beaver, Allegheny, and Armstrong Counties.  While students have the opportunity to “shop” from a department store of gently used clothing, IH2’s goal is to provide each student with a NEW pair of shoes, backpack with school supplies, package of undergarments, package of socks, and a warm winter coat.  There is so much to be said about how a NEW version of these promotes confidence and motivation in the classroom.  Some things are just best distributed new to owner.  These families face serious challenges, many of which we aren’t able to solve, but we believe this is one issue we can certainly address!

We are seeking new and very gently used clothing sizes 4T through adult large.  The clothing will be prepared on hangers and arranged in a store-like format and available for “shopping” during SummerFest.  We are humbly asking your help in making this a highly-dignified experience for families.  If clothing is outdated, stained, torn, and/or not in good condition, we ask that you instead direct your donation to another collection agency.  Please help us to make this a positive and exciting experience for these kiddos.
